Hearing impairment can often have a restricting effect on a person’s day-to-day activities. The HearCom screening questionnaire provides a means of assessing the subjective level of handicap experienced by a person as a result of their hearing loss. Questions will focus on four different areas:
The outcomes of the questionnaire are given as one score in three categories, identified on the expected average hearing loss for 1, 2, and 4 kHz:
Note: the audiograms are not actually measured with the questionnaire; the areas represent the audiograms of a test group measured to validate the questionnaire.
Note: the outcomes represent the subjective experiences of the participants. More tests will be needed to evaluate their hearing objectively.
